Security Engineer

The role of the security often entails the configuration and automation of the initial line of defense, which includes tasks like setting up firewalls, Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IPS/IDS), and monitoring systems (SIEM), among others.

Once these devices are configured, fine-tuning them to suit the specific security environment is crucial. This often involves the use of Python for automation within the system.

In addition, a security engineer may serve as a subject matter expert in any of these technologies. For instance, an SME focused on the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platform, like Splunk, would be actively involved in optimizing alerts to minimize the occurrence of false positives.
